All Day Poem by Marota Aphane

All Day

All day
I wait my head
Heavily
Balanced
On my knees

All day
I wait,
Hungry & angry
For the love of my neighbour
But, dear God
It doesn’t
Come!

Then I go to sleep
With my stomach
Empty
Fed up
Yet
All night
My neighbour’s words
Echoes
In my ears:

“Love your neighbour
As you love yourself”
All nightlong
Her words
Torment me
“Love…
Neighbour..
Yourself”
But, dear God
It doesn’t
Come!
