Shiv Wallis Poems

First when I met you I knew you'd be mine
Little did i know what would come with time

Everything was so peaceful
...

I saw you standing there
Across the way from me
I tried to catch your eye
Though I never thought you'd see
...

There's a part I can't tell
About the dark I know well

You say, 'Time for bed now, child'
...

Are we friends, or are we not?
You told me once but i forgot
So tell me now, and tell me true
So i can say I'm here for you
...

I'm an opportunity
and i knock so softly
Sometimes I get loud
when I wish everybody'd just get off me
...

Well your eyes are brighter than a sunny day
And your smile could chase a stormy sky away
And your charm could make a jungle lion obey
That's right: you got it all
...

Black Memories

First when I met you I knew you'd be mine
Little did i know what would come with time

Everything was so peaceful
Fantastic, blissful and superb
But then you decided to leave me
Alone while you meddled with her

What did i do to deserve this?
I loved you, was that such a crime?
I never decieved you or harmed you
Broke your heart, how could you break mine?

Now when i see you together
I'm reminded of us in the rain
Gracefully splashing and kissing
I have to know: what made you change?

I can feel my heart wrench as a watch you
I remember us both on the sand
You seemed so sincere with me then though
What happened to that honest man?

You act somewhat different towards her
To how you once acted with me
I figure you either dont love her
or the aforementioned lie was to me

The latter it seems is more likely
But not necessarily true
For I can recall a short moment
When you genuinely loved me too

You told me that you'd never hurt me
You also said you'd never lie!
You promised that you'd never leave me
It's for that broken promise I cry

Never before have I felt so betrayed
Never been in so much pain
So I vow to forget all these memories
And never again speak your name

Whenever I see you I freeze up
Down my spine forms a shiver of frost.
I can only describe them as memories
Black Memories, soon to be lost

I've tried it before, and i'll try it again
This pathway is long overdue
It's time to get rid of these memories
Haunting Black Memories of you.

Too long have I been so imprisoned
Incarcerated by these thoughts
Memories of you in the darkness
Make my Black heart turn back to frost

As I sit here with the razor
I slowly pierce into my skin
I watch the blood drip down my arm
And rejoice the new pain i am in

Something that isn't inside me
Something I actually feel
Ironic, I feel so alive now
The day I go head over heels

I no longer need to be lonely
Soon I'll be with those I love
Those who give love that is mutual
unconditional love from above
