The dead do not answer
We call to them in the night

I WALKED DOWN THE HILL

I walked down the hill
With the lines of others in mind

WE HAVE SEEN TOO MUCH

We have seen too much
Have we lived too long?

THERE IS NO POEM NOW

There is no poem now
And there may never be a poem again.

THE POET FAILS

The poet fails.
And cannot write.

IF I HAD A POEM LIKE THE LIGHT

If I had a poem like the Light
It would begin the day in Beauty

I SUMMON TO SLEEP

The flowers and the trees
I summon to sleep-
...

WHERE ARE THE LINES I WROTE?

Where are the lines I wrote?
The life I’ve lived?
...

THE WORLD HAS HAD ENOUGH OF MY WORDS

The world has had enough of my words.
It didn’t care for them much anyway.

THE WORLD DOES NOT NEED ANOTHER POEM OF DESPAIR

The world does not need another poem of Despair-
