Life Withers Away...

Life withers away slowly into oblivion
Gliding across death's daunting pavilion
Plunging into the sea of unknown
In the dark, afraid and alone.

In the world of mortals there is loss and grief
For life has withered away like a yellowing leaf
Leaving behind its mark of everlasting sorrow
Difficult to fade with the approaching tomorrow.

But from death's bottomless pits of despair,
Blossoms a new life, full of passion and dare
And dances to life's song of short lived victory
Only to be consumed again by death's stark fury.

In life and death's raging rivalry
That goes on for all eternity,
Mourning those who have come and gone
We are nothing but battle's trivial pawn.
