Mother

I'm a small little blip
Like a small little ship.
Sailing the high seas, traversing those cliffs.
Hurriedly I look, my heart is off the hook
I'm ragged and bedraggled
Oh, save me from this chasm.
The conspirators gather –
My life shall become lather!

Ah, but the clouds part.
Light illuminates the dark.
“Oh, let the artist speak.
Which symbol shall lead me to glee? ”

“Thy mother”, quoth he; whoever that might be
“Don't you dare offend she
She has nursed you to be!
Recognize her, she is your energizer!
Expending her powers day after day
Educing life without the ask for pay
No takers for this thankless toil
Except for one
And that is she
Request allegiance - with purity,
Or you shall recede to obscurity”

I raised my hand with meek approval
Puritan – I had never been
For all the things I have said or seen
Obscurity should have cornered me.

“I forgive.” Came a soothing voice
Mother had heard my noise!
I yelped like a little dog,
Someone would save me from this fog!

Hope in a lonely place
Hope in the strongest gale.
Mother steers me on course
It is only a tangent to remorse
Oh, what can stop a person when he knows he has support!
Mother is my hope, mother is my pope!
No cardinal, no Brahmin, no priest, no guru
Can vouch their support for times tomorrow
But, mother – there is no fear
For mother shall always be dear.
