The Fallen Leaf

Wandering among the lush trees,
I behold some fallen leaves,
I bend down to pick one,
With hues of red n golden.

Though covered in dust, it still did gleam;
How enlightened its soul did seem,
What was its life like, wondered I;
And to me it did reply.

'Only summers and spring were not my life,
Both winds and rain I faced alike.
I honoured both glory and pain,
Today so proud and peaceful I remain'.

A fallen leaf has taught me all,
Man compared to nature is indeed small.
The secret of pain and glory I shall always retain,
Cause proud and peaceful on my death, I wish to remain.
