Roger Kibble Poems

Do you find
Bluebells on your mind
And Forget-me-nots
And Buttercups
...

Motors hum, doors sigh,
Wheels screech, bells cry,
Train moves on gathering speed,
Tunnels go by but nobody heeds
...

Concrete slabs
Costs that rise
Clank of doors
Purr of cars,
...

Yet again I speak of love,
Remaining faithful to that life
When your faithful brow was mine
And our hearts with joy entwined.
...

Useless satirist of facts,
This age grows fearful
Yet withstands the strain
Of your governmental acts.

Bluebells On Your Mind

Do you find
Bluebells on your mind
And Forget-me-nots
And Buttercups
With Honeysuckles
Entwined?

Do you see
Dandelions on a fresh mown lawn
With Daisies
And Snowdrops
And a Daffodil
Forlorn?

Do you remember
Poppies in golden Hay
With Thistledown,
Red Campion
In Hedgerows
Everyday?

They say the past is a foreign place
Where everything just dies,
But I see all these things and know
That flowers don't tell lies,

So when I look upon a Rose
I see
All the things
You mean to me
And thee.
