Robert Johnston Poems

Can you smile a smile for me?
Does my love touch you that deep?
I love to see you smile, my dear.

Are you happy with me, dearest one?
...

Come...share a cup of tea with me.
Tell me about your day, how it went.
Would you care for a scone with that?
Come...share a cup of tea with me.
...

You once felt on top of your game,
but now, nothing seems to be going right.
It's as if your energy has gone away-
and now that's it's gone, it's no more.
...

It's over now- our good love has died.
I cry in the night for what truly was.
The pain that I feel burns so bad-
but it's my fault that I feel this way.
...

Why must I have a heart that is too big?
Why must I attract those who don't want me,
but only what I can give them, for very little?
Is it my fate that I must love without being loved?
...

We lie on the bed, feeling the afterglow.
The storm is pelting like a liquid metronome-
but what do we care, as long as we're together?

I look into your eyes and see the love in them.
...

If you can see me, know that I love you.
For you can see the love I have for you
growing in my heart and in my eyes.
Can you see the love I have for only you?
...

Love is in the air tonight, my dearest.
Can you feel the power as much as I do?
Tonight, a strange magic permeates the air,
much like jasmine and sage in the morning.

Smile For Me

Can you smile a smile for me?
Does my love touch you that deep?
I love to see you smile, my dear.

Are you happy with me, dearest one?
Are you smiling just for me today?
I love to see you smile, my dear.

God only knows why you love me.
But I know your love to be so true.
I love to see you smile, my dear.

Can you smile a smile for me?
Is your smile and your love that deep?
I love to see you smile, my dear.
