Never Forgotten

I was woke up early,
By my dad on St Stephens day.
He had something to tell me,
But had no words that he could say.

It was a very close friend,
Went to wake there baby in bed,
But sweet little baby,
Had pale skin and cold head.

This cannot be true,
Put my friend on the phone
I will get you through this,
from my Heart you will not be alone.

I washed you and dressed you
Then I gave your sweet head a comb
While daddy sat waiting
To bring his precious girl back home

We sat in the car
While daddy held you in tears
I will never forget that
And never have through the years.

We brought you back home
Put you in your cot snug and tight,
So mammy and daddy,
Can be with you for one last night.

The next morning came,
For that big journey in the sky.
It was time little princess,
Spread your wings now and go fly

I will never forget you,
I promised you that from the start
With the rest of the soles
Your hand print is in my heart.
