What Is Prayer?

Prayer is the heartbeat of God
Where ere we go upon this sod
We feel Him in every pulsating beat
We know His presence we will meet.

Prayer is the heartbeat of mankind
We must submit to Him our sin filled mind
We search for words for pleasing Him
To seek forgiveness is not a whim

Prayer is the heartbeat of the soul
To please our God and Father is our goal
We seek His will and living breath
Without His touch is certain death

Prayer is the heartbeat of life’s day
We know that God is not far away
He fills our time with grace so sweet
And gives His mercy when we meet

Prayer is a heartbeat in the night
We know His presence brings us light
For when the night is dark and cold
We find peace on which to hold

Prayer is the heartbeat for eternity
Our hold on God a certainty
Yet His hold on us is so secure
Our faith in Him is not obscure
