Why do you cry for the beloved
When he smiles at you through naked breeze and brooks
Chant and weep no more

I know the secret of wine
All the knowledge of this world lies
There is forgiveness in every dawn
Birds of the night heal the dervishes

Wonder at the damage you do to your eyes
Just wonder, do not fear, just wonder
So much damage to Our eyes

Wild nights scream at me

Why beloved?
I travel to you every dawn
How the dusk makes me cry again to find you!
But I am a sufi devil, your mad mad creation
Till I drink your kindness from the hills
Innocence from the leaves
Rage from the holy books
I will not surrender myself back to you
In love, I smoke the cerise evenings
Bathe in naked water
Savour the silence of your smile
And die in your separation in every poem
Once I come back to you
We'll count the seeds of the pain cherries I ate
And rejoice at every such union we made
Let me feign deafness
While you whisper the way back home!
