What Do You Mean By 'Go'?

What do you mean by “go”?
I live in a beautiful country
Safe and protected
From danger
And you are forcing me
Into a pit of despair
Where my death
Awaits me
I am a man
Who had a great life
Beautiful wife, beautiful children
And a beautiful, peaceful life
But you are saying
I must go to war
To sacrifice my life
In something
I have no experience with
I do not want any army training
I do not want to learn to handle a gun
I do not want to explode
Into pieces
By someone
Who deserves
To live
As much as I do
So when you say go
I will say no
Canada has done
Enough
To protect and supply Britain
So what is the point in going
If my life means nothing to you?
