Tanka Poem by Scarborough Gypsy

Tanka

Rating: 3.5

Sleep refuses to blanket me tonight,
though eyes are weary,
mind actively calculates,
wanders, roams,
composing this tanka.

I much enjoyed this. It reminds me that a little discipline is a good lesson in self-editing for presentation!

I liked this one very much; it fulfils all the criteria of the definition of a tanka. It is great that you have begun to experiment with different forms. We'll be watching this space!

For those that don't know, a Tanka is a form of Japanese poetry. It must consist of five lines and 31 syllables and the same theme should flow through the poem. I wrote this as an experiment having never attempted a Tanka before. If you are foing to vote, please also leave a comment too. Thankyou.
