Youth's A Blissful Thing Poem by Francis Duggan

Youth's A Blissful Thing

Of ageing heroes and heroines the praises many do sing
But here's to all young people for youth's a blissful thing
The present is what matter and the past has forever gone
We cannot live a second youth and time is ticking on
Our biological clocks are ticking and we cannot turn back time
And it is downhill physically from peak of our life's prime
From our mid thirties it is downhill at least physically wise anyway
Just like 'tis said about the dog every dog have their day,
The years go by so quickly time for anyone does not wait
And to every life form on this Earth death cometh soon or late
The Land of Eternal Youth a mythological legend from Hibernia far away
But myths are just that only myths and as myths they do stay
Of ageing heroes and heroines many may choose to sing
But here's to all young people for youth's a blissful thing.
