Youth Poem by Mockingjay Mellark

Youth

Who and what art thou, o Youth
That thou hast fast flown by like a bird in the sky
Whilst in you, your enemy Time didst drag
But now he's blurred and you've waved bye

O Youth, my friend, wouldst thou
Bid me farewell
And leave me now
To settle on a newborn babe
And give the child the great gift of youth newfound?

Well then, Youth, my friend of old
I see thou shalt not wait around
If ye will it, ye shalt go
And leave me here behind
And the innocence and joy ye gave me I shalt lose

But know this, Youth, my eternal friend
Ye shall be always in my heart
And I shalt recollect ye fond
The times spent together before ye had to part

So go now, Youth, if thou must
But promise me one thing
Do not let the memories rust
Visit me at times so we can recall
Our age of adventure before I reached the adulthood cusp

What a nice reminder of how we can always recall those wonderful memories of our youth as we age! Lovely poem! Thanks for sharing!
