Your True Friend Poem by Francis Duggan

Your True Friend

'Tis hard to make a friend on your life's journey far harder than 'tis to make a foe
And despite my three score years of living of life i have so much to know
To business people money mostly matter and money does come before all
And disputes that have led to serious crimes over money quite common stories to recall.

You may be one who is not popular not exactly the pride of the town
But your true friend will always stand by you when others are putting you down
Yes enemies are not hard to make and a friend is more precious than gold
A true friend will never forsake you and is one who cannot be bought or sold.

Your true friend will always stand by you even though you are down and close to out
Your true friend will never forsake you though all others on you cast a doubt
You may well have many acquaintances but friends are so precious and rare
They will stand by you through the hard times and worry about your welfare.

You can make a foe without trying to but the bond of friendship almost impossible to break
Your true friend will always stand by you and in your time of need you will not forsake
Of acquaintances you will meet many and you can make a foe without trying
But your good friend will always stand by you whilst others your worth are denying.
