Your Chosen Lonley Road Poem by Kathryn Garner

Your Chosen Lonley Road

I can dream of your breathing
Did you ever think of what you were leaving
Behind, so we can suffer our own pain
Crying over your fame
The one who ran away and died
Now matter how hard you tried
Now matter how hard we tried
To clean up all your tears
To ward away all those fears
So take away all your beers
But you gave all the efforts away
And were left wondering
Is it better this way?

I was such an addict to your smile
But lately it’s been a long while
Since my cravings been given
A hope for what its livin’
Baby, are you looking and wishing
To come back to the things you’re missing
All the love you’re missing
We all cared so much for you
But were doing the one thing we can do
Were regretting, and trying to move on
Though we know this ending is wrong

I suppose its better off this way
To mourn the pain away
Do I really want to ruin it all for you?
Is that what your expected me to do?
Hoping I would join it your death
I thought you were the only thing left
But now I know, you’re not all I have left
I love you, but I wont give it for gone
Its dark now, but I hope its not for long
I loved you, but you simply gave it away
I hope you’re happy, but it wasn’t the only way

I would have died for you
If you wanted to stay alive
I would, and have cried for you
But you chose to die
I would have killed for you
If you gave a damn
And though I fought for you
I still don’t understand

And then I turned to the coffin of ourselves
Praying for love, and the story that it tells
And as you lie alone
Decaying to the bone
I still lay here alone as well
Wondering if you’re in heaven or hell

Oh where have you gone my darkest love
Down below or in the skies above?
Your tragic end, now I lay at night
Wondering if I’ll ever lay sight
On your eyes, on your soul
Will I join you soon
In my own hole
Oh, darling where have you gone?
You have chosen the lonely road
And now you walk you will walk there
Lonely and alone

This is wonderful piece of work that you have written. The feeling of sadness is felt as I read. May you find peace and joy in your heart once again. Scott
