Your Beating Heart Poem by Diana Rosser

Your Beating Heart

I love to lie upon your beating heart
hear it pound the sound of African drums
see shields glinting in the sun

I love to lie upon your beating heart
feel its steady rhythm beneath my ear
close my eyes and disappear

listening to its primal thud I know
why African drums beat so

I love to lie upon your beating heart
hear it pound the sound of African drums.
