Your Amazing Strength (Second Draft) Poem by Emily Escue

Your Amazing Strength (Second Draft)

'...Live like you were dying, '
-'Live Like You Were Dying' by Tim McGraw

For Brian:

Forty years old
When the final diagnosis was given;
You with your strength,
An inspiration to all.

The call came in
That you were gone,
But not before you talked to your 'brother'
In a dream where you walked.

Still on our cheeks were tears of diamond,
Though no longer did we weep.
A beam of sunlight on our skin
A feeling of comfort coming from within.

The strength you held,
Such a beautiful soul.

The things you taught us,
The things we learned.
Like loving deeper,
And forgiving those you've been denying.

But most of all
You taught us
To
Live like you are dying.
