You Were Past Cute Poem by Gert Strydom

You Were Past Cute

Our feet were in
green moss filled water,
the wind was in our hair
and the white-hot sun
hang in the blue sky.

We sat in the shade of crying willow tree
and had a picnic next to the river
and ate delicacies and drank some cool drink.

You were past cute with your straw hat
under which your lips looked alluring soft red
and I saw heaven in your golden eyes
and we were in love.

For moments we were caught
in the wonder of nature,
time flew and minutes hastened
becoming hours.
