You Were Never There Poem by Ray Hansell

You Were Never There

You told me that you loved me
You told me that you cared
But when I needed you
You were never there

When you cried I stayed with you
In bad times I was always there
The way I treated you
Told you how much I cared

Whenever I was down
Feeling very low
I was home alone
I had no place to go

I always thought that caring
Was a two way street
Looking back I have to say
Why did we ever meet?
