You Were A Star (I Was A Black Hole) Poem by Kayci Lamb

You Were A Star (I Was A Black Hole)

you're blinding me
with all that light inside you
you're so bright
i couldn't handle the heat

i promised you
i'd catch you a star
but when i got there
i couldn't handle the heat

i saw you in a photograph
the glass was shattered
i tried to put it back together
i couldn't handle the heat

sometimes i see you
keeping your eyes on me
trying to understand that
i couldn't handle the heat

don't let me go
i'm tired of feeling alone
i'm always sorry
i couldn't handle the heat
