You Take Puffs, My Dears! Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

You Take Puffs, My Dears!

Rating: 5.0

Smoking and Cholesterol are close friends
going synergy with lung cancer
and the heart diseases,
equip their hands with knives and guns
to threat, hit and shoot
and lead the gentry to knock
on the doors of mortality.

The off-springs of the smokers
tumble at the gate of morbidity
due to second-hand smoke
and their cognitive skills
go down with scarce oxygen.

Nicotine gallops the rate of heart-beat
and gives a red-carpet welcome to stress in men
but reduces the beats to enhance B.P in women.
The smokers are at the risk of cardiac-crisis
and the depression leads them to be at cancer-risk
with declining strength of killer-cells,
who move with surveillance cameras
for detecting the perilous cancers.
Why then the youth and sooth-sayers
take puffs often to compromise
their health and put it in hand-cuff?
The insurers will take to heels
if you approach them for health coverage?

A grave warning put in beautiful poetic diction! Passive smocking can be even more hazardous to health! This deserves full 10
