You Child Poem by Stephen Holland

You Child

Rating: 5.0

Child one time, and time relates
This child witness love and hate
Innocence at once besieged
Violated evil released
Those you trust turn out the worst
Those you trust are those who hurt
Chase your ghosts in vain pursuit
To conceal the bitter truth
Just a child, abused, defiled
You sense every man you see could do the same
Erect your barriers high to diffuse the pain
So much maligned
Renders your mind
A confused and bitter suicidal kind

So hopeless and outcast
You improve then relapse
Observe your time of hell
Inside your hollow shell
Where hopes and dreams you weave
Still people don’t believe
You child

Consulting strangers own discourse
When those guilty show no remorse
Still your confidence deflates
You’re fervently dispassionate
Lamentations held within
Through hate and pain and hate again
And cutting arms is all that’s left
And pills for pain are pills for death
On your own
You flee from home
You think all men deceitful devious and coarse
Reciprocate their arrogance with equal force
So much maligned
Renders your mind
Confused and bitter suicidal kind

This is a really good poem! So emotional and sad, and its aweful how some children have to suffer that way and then grow up believing every man can't be trusted, they'll only hurt you even more! So sad but real, thats how life is sometimes! Thanks for sharing! ! !

Great poem.Everything is there in this poem.A great exposure to cruelty behind innocence is exposed. I feel very few poems will reflect realities to the world and I feel that every sensitive reader should read and comment on this poem so that the society moves forward.Marks 10
