You gave me the spotlight before it shone,
and gave me the confidence to carry on.
You kept giving me that important push
when I was down and out of touch.

You had faith in me when I had none,
and stayed when others would have gone.
Your encouragement was always there,
you seem to grasp it from the air.

When my selfishness raised its ugly head,
you always saw something else instead.
I've never seen you get annoyed or mad,
and your limitless patience I wish I had.

Whenever I needed someone you were there
to guide me through my despair.
You have taken me beyond how things used to be
and made me stand up, and face reality.

You are someone special without a doubt
and I wouldn't exist if you weren't about.
You brought me a life when I didn't have one
and you ask for nothing for what you've done.
