You Are Among The Few Poem by Marcus McKinley

You Are Among The Few

Rating: 4.0

I have friends
Mostly distant
If something is needed, I am there
But really, I am alone in this world
I do not depend on the support of others
If you say hi or just come by
It makes no difference

I have never found myself missing you
Or them
Minutes, hours, days, years....
If not a sound, you'll see no tears
I expect no favor, for a favor
Things I do, I do not discuss

I have friends
Mostly distant
There are few people I truly trust

A simple glance at the index is very revealing
Call it a gut feeling
Like books on a shelf, together yet alone
You are among the few

I like this poem - reminiscent of my own poem entitled Alone, you may like to read.
