You Are Also Beautiful Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

You Are Also Beautiful

You said 'my sister is beautiful'
As if to say 'Far more beautiful than me'
And saying so you brushed away
The true sentiment that came from me

I've heard it often said
More true as I grow older
That beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Realize, all living beauty fades away 'till dead

Why I wonder does it bother me
Your reacton, what you said
I wonder what is in your head
What injuries you mush have been fed

It hurts in life to compare
With a sister or a brother
Such a thing must hurt a mother and feel unfair
Because she loves each child like no other

If God created each a certain way
He must have had a reason
If everyone was identically molded in clay
We'd be perpetually trapped in the same season

I'm glad you're just the way you are
a sweet friend far away
8000 miles by boat or plane and car
Knowing of you brightens each day

If beauty is measured in God's grace
It seems he's sent many gifts your way
A sound mind, a wonderful heart, and rosey face
And many more blessings upon your tray

Let's not discuss our flaws today
Or else we each might in shyness hide away
Please believe me when I say
I find you beautiful, in my own way

I've lived just long enough to know
that beauty is more than just pretty face
And your true beauty is felt and does show
like a rainbow reflected in your caring grace
