You And Her Poem by Jennifer Sollmann

You And Her

It’s a dream I can’t wake up from,
You and her.
Don’t you see it tortures me?
My heart just might expand so much
With my love for you that it’ll jump,
Jump out of the confines of my body.
My brain just might tear itself apart
With my conflicting thoughts of you.
I tell myself not to love you so much,
But I do, oh how I do.
Push, push, push it away.
I try so hard to stifle the love,
Stifle the urge I have to grab your hand,
To wrap my arms around you,
But I can only try.
I fail every time.
Loving you is like breathing,
It’s something I must do.
Smile, smile, smile my love.
We can just be friends,
However hard for me it may be.
Don’t worry your pretty self,
I’ll be fine, I can take it.
You and her…
Will I awake from this dream soon?
