You Poem by Brooke McMinn

You

Always yelling and criticizing
Only recognizing the bad, never the good.
Harsh words still sting
Long after they are said.
No apologies.
Thought trapped in my head.
Secretly crying in the moonlit nights
Eyes puffy and swollen in the light.
Misunderstandings.
Guidance's gone wrong.
Ducking from the blows that never come,
Wishing they did
For they would be less painful.
Long for physical injuries that would heal
Instead of those that never will.
Little things set you off.
Constantly in fear
Knowing you are never satisfied
With what I've done.
Fake apparition.
Forced smiles.
Lectures on how much better I should have done.
Long for one day of peace.
Hurtful words, and actions.
Mistakes overlooked,
Except when I've done them.
Yes, you are perfect,
And I am not.
