Yes/No Poem by Morgan Michaels

Yes/No

Yes, I've read the choruses from Oedipus
At Colonus and paused for a ponderous moment
As the clangorous iambs, hastening like waves,
Over hideous age, early demise pled, and to that same,
'Never to be born'. Bother! Bother, it's just a play-
Sophocles knew how to make an audience squirm.
So, bother it, ok? He lived to 92:
No one should dash the cup of life, dear, or few.
