'Yes' Lyrics For Song Poem by James Meaney

'Yes' Lyrics For Song

Yes – Lyrics

Wake up with no gravity
Everyday I see my dream
This girl is what happened to me
Everyday I see her gleam
People run over each other
For her, I’m the bright color
I concur she’s like no other
Annnd I’m always with her
You could call me her lover
And trust aint an issue you can call me a belt buckle
And she’s fleeting it seems
And the dream was a scheme
This was a scene from a movie
I think? Or a daydream
Of a mainstream regime that
Was caught up in the downstream
But that’s pushing extremes
Lit up in the dark
Outline of my body is seen
And when all your ears only hear
Rings rings, and hollers and screams
That’s when you know you’re a big thang.

Now think to yourself
How astronomical it would be
A girl only held to my dreams
If I asked her to marry me
Just how life gives you lemons
I’d give back a lemon tree
If I’m not speaking literally
Then I’m speaking reality
And if I’m not speaking verbally
Then this is my mentality, of my personality
Damn, how many showers do –
I have to take for her to notice me
Or do I have to smile more,
Would that be to generous of me?

Throw on your smile and
Mix in with the lot
You might wake up and notice
You’re someone your not. And
Those shades you wear,
Won’t block the tears that you’ve fought
So why are you trying to fit in –
Is it because your skin is to black
Or the way that you talk
The dreams we have,
Can not be mistaken, taken, or dropped;
Stop following the crowd
And make your own plot
The cliffs are steepening
With an even further drop
And keep that struggle
Because there is no top.
