When your fathers old and greying,
when your mothers old and frail,
when they hold their childrens children on their knee,
do they think of years flown by,
and remember with a sigh
when they were once as young as you and me
When your father held your mother,
in his strong and youthful arms,
and thought too of their parents old and grey,
who used to love and live,
when they had young love to give
in the joy and freedom of their younger days
So when you see your father,
take your mothers hand,
in the stillness sitting by the fireside glow,
that look is in their eyes,
so young one realize,
they're as much in love as they were long ago.......
A superbly crafted poem, the rhyme and rhythm flows along with ease, yet above that is the wonderful message - it's a real tribute to a life time of true love. A beautiful poem that speaks from the heart. S :)
A lovely poem that reminds us to remember that old folks still have a lot of love to give yet. In the last line 'their' -should be 'they're' ok. Thanks for sharing your talents. Ravensong
