X's And O's (Hit The Road) Poem by B.A. Phillips

X's And O's (Hit The Road)

What's not worth working for
Is simply not worth having
That saying seems louder
Whenever I think of the life
That I could have had with you
But He didn't want me to
Waste my time in definite
And I drove away in the cold of February
Leaving behind last words
And a last kiss
Stubborn as you may have been
I don't think I'd change a thing
Because what seemed like a wasted year
Turned out to be the first I'd ever live
And now I'm living fuller than I've ever been
So as I leave behind these hot and cold memories
I'll save a few for the road
Because I've got a long trip ahead of me
