Wrath Of Gossip Poem by G.R. Gaus

Wrath Of Gossip

Rating: 5.0

Some people simply like being alone,
It stirs nosey people into talking;
The mystery, of that person unknown,
Changes the voice, into squawking.

Did you hear the one about so and so?
They don't mix in, with our crowd;
Must be some reason, they never go,
This behavior, is simply not allowed.

Sooner or later the rumors will fly,
Although it's not meant, to harm;
We know how rumors, grow inside,
Until someone, sets off the alarm.

Innocent people, threatened by smear,
Wrath of gossip, on rumor thrives;
Devious demeanor, far and near,
Affecting many; unknowing lives.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
When I was in the fourth grade my teacher taught us a lesson that I still remember. She whispered to the first person in the front row a short story and that person passed it on to the next until all the kids in the class had whispered their version. Needless to say the story had grown into a pretty wild tale from the original version. Since then in my adult life I have seen the wrath of gossip…..

I can identify with this one - have always been shy and quiet, and people just don't like it. Very well written and expresses great understanding.
