Wrapped Poem by ONElia AVElar

Wrapped

Rating: 3.5

Deep in your newspaper,
absorbed, all wrapped,
To take off the sheets
seems so hard,
to catch a glimpse
of your face,
so far...

But
I start off
a rite of unpacking:
paper, cotton shirt, skin,
looking for your heart, lost,
in printing ink and wrapping.

Ah... I really like this One. It's often when our loved-ones are miles away that all we want to do is get them back to us and yet... they are off & away in their heads. Your analogies worked a treat in this one. HG: -) xx

An epigram centred in a zone between two poles: wrapping and unpacking. The picture is clear.

lost? a bit hasty in unwrapping, may be...the phrase 'seems so hard' is carefully placed between two wrappers...either way it won't get lost... poem very much 'heart'ening to read...10/10

Beautiful and succinct. Written in a way that is entirely your own! Am always envious at your ability to write such beauty in so few words. Poignant and a little painful if I'm honest.. HG: -) xx

Love this, Onelia - the search for what remains alive between two people is an essential daily task and infinitely worth undertaking. Beautifully, simply put in a perfect pice of iimagery. x Jan

The analogy is complex although the message short and sweet; somewhere beneath the exterior (sheets, clothes, pages, covers, wrapping) lies the sought after object. The dilemma is how to communicate that message without losing the object... Rgds, Ivan
