Would That The World Poem by Dillon McKenna

Would That The World

Would that the world could see like I,
Gazing at the cotton candy sky.
As Apollo rounds his daily turn,
Slowly falling out of sight,
Bringing others out of night.
But for us the light slowly dies,
And we can remain awake unconcerned.

Nepenthe has washed away the past,
The memories no longer last.
Of when light was given by fire,
When night was a time to rest,
And reflect on how to live best.
Without always trying to move fast,
But to rest when our souls got tired.
