World Today? Poem by Dr John Celes

World Today?

Rating: 5.0

The present world in doldrums lies;
Gone haywire are family ties;
Man looks beyond the clouds and skies,
With soul in sin, man stays unwise!

When human babes unborn remain,
And sinfulness seems boon, not bane;
And men are turning akin Cain;
God looks at men with great disdain.

When ‘devilised' are men by far,
And selfishness makes man a star,
Immorality is no bar,
As nations take to futile war!

Man forgets God is holy most;
The undeserving rave and boast;
The ravished man looks like a ghost;
Most men run from pillar to post!

The famous aren't really so;
The oppressed have no other go;
Disgruntled are the rich and poor;
Most things aren't how they should be, Oh!
