Words Of A Lost Pilgrim Poem by Ajit Kanale

Words Of A Lost Pilgrim

The sun has set o’er the edge of the seas,
The night closes in with a chilly breeze.
even through my warm blanket it flows,
Making me freeze…

Oh! There’s darkness in the sky!
Oh! How that tempest makes the sailors cry!
Ripping apart all embankments it goes
Tossing hovels sky high!

Towers, once tall, come crashing down,
and the Pyramids, then fleece white, turn brown!
Kingdoms ‘n’ cities, once glittering bright
Now hide beneath this dusty gown.

But, O tides of time, hark!
Vows of this pilgrim lost in the dark!
Washed away on this beach he lies alone,
Even on these sands he’ll make a standing mark!

Ay gales of time, hearken ye!
ruthless and robust, be you may!
This is a son of the high blue skies,
Even you it’ll beat and fly one day!

O flames of time, hear! Hear! !
you may consume all in sway without fear.
but here is a phoenix you’ve burned to death,
Unscathed, from the ashes, one day, he’ll rise right here!

I lie forlorn, beneath this advancing pall,
Without that fire in me – destiny’s call!
but the embers inside are alive, O time!
For they’ll burn, and again, I’ll walk tall!
