Words In My Dance Poem by Cigeng Zhang

Words In My Dance

Rating: 5.0

Could hardly well express my heart
So, I change my way to keep silent
Let me dance a dance, for you - !
You may read my body in my show
My gauzy skirt is a petal of cloud white
Flowering in the tint of morning light
I spin, I spin, I turn into a butterfly
I dance, I dance, I dance into your eyes
Let me speak less and dance more
See me dance even if on the barbed brier...

Let Me Speak Less and Dance More - That is a remarkable resolution! It suggests many things: for example, an artistic impulse to communicate in a variety of ways, with the non-verbal being emphasized over words. It also shows a personal need to communicate finally and completely with a specific individual. It suggests an overflow of things in your heart that demand to be released but the words are failing you. The best thing of all is the need to add beauty to the world, that's your mission and in dancing you have fund a spontaneous, satisfying way to do this: that's what it means to TURN INTO A BUTTERFLY as you dance, that delicate creature whose beauty affect us so deeply. But you realize this commitment involves effort, even pain, THE BARBED BRIARS! I can see you now, smiling in your successE spinning, your dress billowing around you, your audience applauding.

Really lovely poem, nice use of a butterfly as a symbolism for the dancer's spirit.
