Words Are For Reading Poem by Greg Davidson

Words Are For Reading

Words are for reading,
Lies for misleading,
Lessons for heeding,
We learn from mistakes.

Tears are for weeping,
Memories for keeping,
Beds are for sleeping,
‘Til the dawn breaks.

Loads are for bearing,
Joys are for sharing,
Mercy for sparing.
They all correspond.

Love for receiving,
Dreams for conceiving,
Hopes for believing,
In faith we respond.

Treasures for claiming,
Others for blaming,
Goals are for aiming,
So reach for the stars.

Words are for reading,
Wounds are for bleeding,
Friends are for needing;
We all bear some scars.
