Words Poem by Buxton Shippy

Words

Words linger long
Beneath sheets of chiseled stones;
Lusting for the pages,
Craving for the heart.
Transformative,
They grow wings,
Soaring high,
Spanning thoughts
Above the skies.
Words,
Umbilical cords of cultures
With power;
Grown men cry;
Vanquish dreams;
Delicate, babies sleep.
Words.
