Woodpecker Poem by nimal dunuhinga

Woodpecker

You loiter and tap me with your hard beak my friend.
But you never find any insect here.
Though you see my tree trunk is strong
It’s almost a hollow.
They have already sucked my sap
And where they were gone?
Do you hear the far away song of storm?
It murmurs to me that I won’t be long-standing.
