Wonderland Poem by Andy Barrette

Wonderland

Some people live in wonderlands.
For me that's not the case.
And yet I made the best of it,
exploring every space
but in my explorations
I found not what you would think
but instead, a wonderland of sorts,
as though a scenic wink,
for wonder didn't seek me out
as is often the case,
but hid itself away from me
in every far-off place.
Now I know that value
isn't quite what you can see
but is the belly of the beast,
whatever that may be.
