Woman In The Morning Poem by Francis Duggan

Woman In The Morning

Rating: 5.0

On the beach the gray haired woman she stood looking out to sea
And as I walked by she turned and with a toothy smile said to me
It is such a pleasant morning hope you have a lovely day
And I stopped for a chat to her before going upon my way.

She said I come here each morning I find this a place of peace
From the stress and cares of living one well might say a release
To be all alone with Nature listening to the ocean roll
Is a calming sort of feeling and sweet music for the soul.

She was all alone with Nature no one else around save I
And a little flock of seagulls preening on the beach nearby
And out on deeper waters the gannets dived for prey
Where the white waves are rolling in the morning calm and gray.

We said goodbye in parting and I went upon my way
As the sun burnt through the gray clouds for to brighten up the day
And in moments of reflection the memories still come to me
Of the woman in the morning standing looking out to sea.
