Woman Hood Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Woman Hood

Rating: 5.0

She said:

'I have seen Night Fall,
tripped
in Love's Quest
trying to Fly to the Moon
but it wasn't you
who never saw me
never felt me
and I
floated then
in empty space
to contemplate
fortune
yet not
understand
that time
was not you
I
loved
so much
as
'Love's Touch:
I am not
the Star-Crossed Lover
Star Kissed
now I see
I am
even as
you fled
my heart swelled
from Love's Capacities
having in this
now understand
its fulsome range
which rose to
the Breath of the Moon's Kiss
able more
to give to family
friends
and to my kids.
These are the gifts
the single gifts
a girl learns
as she
grows beyond
the wonderful
infatuations
of a
young
female.

But make no
mistake
here lives
a precious gift
understood
that Love Lost
properly applied
is
Love's Portal
to
Womanhood.'
