Woman* Poem by indira babbellapati

Woman*

Rating: 2.8

A woman’s eye

Bears the brunt

Of releasing the sorrow

Of all those around her

Not revealing

Unable to reveal

Those hundred words buried

Rain through one silent wail

She voices those delicate memories

Like a finely tuned veena at the slightest touch

She flutters like a tender leaf

At the pressure of sorrow invisible

Within her heart arched like a bow

She’s the naari* that bears everybody’s

Accumulated tension

She renders meaning to her surroundings

When they abruptly turn extraneous

She’s the protagonist of that scene

She’s a transparent curtain

That subtly displays those invisible roles

*naari: bowstring as well a woman
