Without A Trace Poem by Valsa George

Without A Trace

Rating: 4.6

Earth shook,
under terrible weight and shock
Tectonic plates slipped,
Seismic waves gyrated,
The Earth's crust punctured
crushing life and longings,
The roofs came down.
Dreams vanished just as
air from a punctured balloon
The bread winners of the family, gone,
Women and children,
belongings and livestock,
everything buried alive.
In the vortex of fury,
nothing is left
except,
a pile of wrack and ruin

Trees uprooted,
Everything scattered
like planets thrown out of orbits

Elements fell silent
under searing pain

No one, left to heave a sigh
or anyone to be traumatized
over the after shocks

The destruction so truly described is complete. Yet a new day provides new hope, hopefully. A powerful poem.

While some are left with shock and grief others disappear with out a trace. Tragedy of earthquake is overwhelming so well painted in your words.

I very much liked the metre of the poem, which is quite appropriate to the sad catastrophe described. While reading the poem, one can almost feel the vibration of a quake. I stand up to applaud.10/10 from me.
