With Love To My Friend Poem by Yakubu Mohammed

With Love To My Friend

My eyes yearn for an infatuated cameleon of discord
A hare of disfavour and
A surviving tortoise devoid of its carapace
As my friend who exposes me like
A chicken placed in the den of a hawk;
The only therapeutic option!

In bed I rolled here and there, over and over
All I perceived, all I saw, all I understood
Is a mediocrity of mind.

Ha! Tufiakwa! !
The venom in my mouth I spit.
Behold, I am now the spider and you
The tortoise and with my cobweb I shall
Suppress you ‘cos I am a New Leaf.

Dearest Pal,
I am now a pompous Tortoise before a dying hawk;
Or can a hawk prey on a Tortoise?
Nay, let the hawk seek the presence of a chicken.
This will resolve our affliction.
