With Apologies Poem by Eric Bult

With Apologies

As age seeks wider fields to increase levies
Imposed upon surviving humankind
My brain's ability to harbour memories
Is increasingly affected now I find.
A vast array of perfect recollections
Await enactment now in retrospect
Though some I wish were not in my collection
Since they can only spoil the whole effect.
But most of all I wish I could remember
The name of friends and those whom I have met.
Unfortunately an increasing number
Seem to have escaped my memory's net.

I hope you will forgive my sincere shame
If net we meet and I forget your name.
