Wistful Eyes Poem by Edwina Reizer

Wistful Eyes

So distant are my eyes now,
their focus far away.
Pensive are my eyes now
but at least now I can say.
'I know the pain that love can bring.
Before you, I knew not a thing.'

So cold are my eyes now,
their stare a frozen form.
Bitter is their look now
but at least I've known the storm.
I know the passion love can give.
Before you, how did I live?

Can I soften these eyes of mine now?
Will their wistful look ever leave?
I hardly think that's possible
for the've lost their light.
I grieve.
